30 Years and Still Smitten!

Today is my 30th wedding anniversary! This is me and my beloved, "then" and "now".

It seems both forever ago and yesterday that Joe and I tied the knot.  I cannot remember a time when this man was not in my life, and I feel so blessed to have a marriage that is lasting the test of time. Together we have raised three terrific kids and remained steadfast through the ups, downs, highs, lows, happiness and sadness that life brings. Through it all is a deep and abiding love that, thank goodness, neither of us takes for granted or can imagine living without.

Blessed.  We are so deeply blessed with our family, our friends, and each other. A winning lottery ticket would be excellent, too, but we can't have everything.

My brother commented yesterday how fortunate Joe and I are to remain smitten after all these years.  Smitten.  It means to be enamored, in love, affected by something overwhelming, or struck down with godly force. That's a lot of punch packed into one word and it sums up our three decades together pretty well.

I wish everyone the joy of being smitten. If you have already experienced it then consider yourself blessed. If you have not yet been smitten, understand that it is worth waiting for, and when it happens, buttercup, buckle up and enjoy the ride. It's a doozy.

Gotta Scratch Your Head

A woman in Canada is suing a wireless phone service for $600,000.00 claiming the company is responsible for the breakup of her marriage.

Here's the scoop.  The woman admits to being unfaithful to her hubby who, up until the wireless service boo-booed and sent the bill to her home, sat happy and clueless about the affair. After reviewing the bill he noted a repeat number and called it (clueless, maybe, but not dumb), thus exposing his wife's cheating ways. Hubby packed his bags and exited the marriage.

The lawsuit claims that were it not for the errant bill the husband would have been ignorant of the affair and, therefore, remained in the marriage. Ergo, the marital mushroom cloud is the fault of the wireless company.  Huh.

Eschewing personal responsibility is the norm for a lot of folks, but this is one for the Scratch Your Head marquee.  Apparently, the woman takes no personal responsibility for having the affair in the first place.  I'm curious to see what the Canadian courts do with this one, ay.

How about you? What is the worst case you've seen of Personal Responsibility Blasted to Smithereens?  No political references, buttercup, 'cuz that's just too easy.
