Memorial Day Thank You! (also Paying Market AND Microfiction)

To our service men and women, past and present:

THANK YOU!

Your service and sacrifice is
remembered, revered, and appreciated
with humble gratitude.
God bless.

My pages for writers are always under construction, and a few new things have been added to Tools and Paying Markets (link on the italicized words or via the tabs, located above under the blog header).  The market I'd like to highlight here is Dark Moon Digest (horror). Not only do they pay for published work, but they also have nifty contests you may enter. Slasher stories are not their preference, but they welcome humor as long as it falls under the horror genre. Click HERE for general submission guidelines, and HERE if you are interested in their contest specs.  Good luck!

Grandma's Goulash continues to host Succinctly Yours, the wonderful meme for those of us addicted to microfiction. The trick is to write a story in 140 characters or less using the photo below as inspiration. To add to the challenge is the word of the week, "glisten."  My stories are below.

Undercover Granny

“Southbound, red helmet,” Edna said into her hidden microphone.
She loved undercover work.
Who’d ever suspect an old woman of being a cop?
(138 words)

Street Spin

The sun made the road glisten and it distracted him.
That would be Art’s excuse when the police arrested him
for vehicular manslaughter.
(136 characters)

Wishing everyone a safe and happy Memorial Day.  God bless our troops, past and present!

See you soon!
