I love a good surprise, and that was just what awaited me in my email inbox. I recognized the name of an editor to whom I submitted a story at least a year-and-a-half ago. She wrote to confirm my mailing address in order to forward my contributor's copy of the book "The Mystery of Fate: Common Coincidence or Divine Intervention?".
The last I heard, the anthology was on hold. I filed it and forgot about it, so receiving the email flummoxed me. I actually looked up the book at Amazon and checked the Table of Contents. Sure enough, my name is included with the title of the story I submitted.
My email "acts up" periodically and sends to the spam file perfectly valid emails from approved addresses. I suppose that is what happened in this case.
In any event, I am thrilled to have my story included in this interesting book and look forward to receiving a copy. It is a compilation of true stories regarding those unexplained occurrences that may be, as the title suggests, either coincidence or divine intervention. I expect I will read some eerie tales that send a shiver up my spine and force me to look over my shoulder a time or two.
As surprises go, this ranks right up there with deliveries from the local florist and finding a twenty dollar bill in the back pocket of a pair of old jeans. Coincidence? Divine intervention? Reward for hard work?
Whatever the reason, the result is the same: Me doing a happy dance!
Til next time -
Lisa
