To My UK Pals: Stay Safe!

The news coming out of Britain is disturbing on many levels, and as I've read varied reports about the riots in London--now scattered across the UK, according to the latest news--my thoughts have continuously turned to my UK blogging friends.

Such civil unrest is something you have dealt with before, as have we here in the States. Knowing it eventually ends is thin comfort while it is occurring. It never paints a pretty picture, and it is frightening always.

The last few news bites offered quotes from a number of British citizens, and I was heartened to hear people from many different ethnic backgrounds say this is not about race; that, in fact, this unrest seems to be bringing diverse groups together in many communities as people reach out to help and support each other in the wake of violence. This shows me more about the true spirit of the British people than any photo of London in turmoil.

So, for my friends "across the pond," please know that you are in the thoughts and prayers of many here. I know I am not alone in saying that while we watch the news and search your blogs, we will continue to pray that each of you and your families stay safe and well out of harm's way.

God bless.
