Grandma's Goulash graciously hosts Succinctly Yours, the wonderful meme for those of us addicted to microfiction. The trick is to write a story in 140 characters or less using the photo below as inspiration. To add to the challenge is the word of the week, "dream." My stories are below.
Impossible Dream
(138 characters)
An uninterrupted day of relaxation was but a dream to Ann. The mother of eight considered even a private potty break the height of luxury.

Impossible Beam

Mia’s friends wondered about her sly smile after a day at the park, but Mia wouldn’t share her dirty secret: sunglasses with x-ray vision.

Thanks for visiting! See you on Wednesday for the naked truth about . . . Procrastination.
Have a great week!
Lisa

Ha ha, X Ray vision. You always make me laugh.
ReplyDeleteYour stories are both good, but loved the second one. You naughty girl, you!

Critter Alley
Good ones! You have a way with words. :)
ReplyDeleteBoth very different. Both very good.
ReplyDeleteHa ha ha. Xray vision and private potty breaks are both impossible dreams.
ReplyDeleteSnort! That second one got me going.
ReplyDeleteOo! Oo! Oo! I most certainly can identify with Miss Lisa! When I was a smitch, using a coupon from the back of a comic book along with 1.79 plus shipping and handling, I sent for a pair of them thar fancy glasses and had the time of my life! (Actually, I had to pretend. They didn't actually work. But fortunately, they putting my acting skills to the test, and I was able to fool my friends.)
ReplyDeleteI can so identify with "even a private potty break (was) the height of luxury," back in 1982 through 1986-ish with three young boys! Your explanation of Mia's sly smile was perfect. You inspired me to make up rhyming titles--you're so clever!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun twosome! Do you know where I could buy some of those glasses??
ReplyDeleteMrs. Jim has a pair of those neat sunglasses. She got them at the airport, on sale, real cheap.
ReplyDeleteI'll take a picture of them and post it next week. They are big black plastic ones with lots of white zebra stripes. Hers have both X-ray and Night Vision capabilities.
I hope she knows that "Eight is Enough." :) Also reminded me of Mother Hubbard. :):) If not she should see her doctor to tell her what to do.
..
Now those would be some pretty cool glasses! She doesn't even need to imagine the passers by in their unders with those on.
ReplyDeleteI felt sorry for Ann, and got a giggle out of Mia. I sure hope nobody has those glasses anywhere in my neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteK
You always amaze me.
ReplyDeleteReally giggled at the x-ray vision, because it goes so very well with the look on her face! And oh, how I remember those precious-potty-break days!
