Microfiction: Horse Sense

Welcome to today's microfiction!

Grandma's Goulash graciously hosts Succinctly Yours, the wonderful meme for those of us addicted to microfiction. The trick is to write a story in 140 characters or less using the photo below as inspiration. To add to the challenge is the word of the week, "bluster."  My stories are below.

Horse Sense #1:  The Payoff
(136 characters)

Thunder sang his heart out to Farmer Bill at every opportunity. “Forget a trainer,” Thunder blustered. “What I really need is an agent!”

Horse Sense #2:  The Payback
(139 characters)

Pokey regretted his decision to heckle Farmer Tom. His noisy bluster, mistaken for illness, resulted in an unfortunate treatment for colic.

  2. Hi Lisa ~~ I'm thinking that Farmer Tom uses castor oil as his treatment for colic.
If so it gets my vote.

Most farmers don't like to pay agents.

  6. "Pokey regretted his decision to heckle Farmer Tom. His noisy bluster, mistaken for illness, resulted in n unfortunate treatment for colic."

This is exactly why I never risk flipping the coin when the decision to be made is, "Who's gonna be the tail end of the horse get-up at the weekly Equine Masquerade Ball and Feedbag?" Why, yes, as a matter of fact I do attend. Every seven days. In my neck of the woods, it's a given.

  7. These are both so funny, Lisa! You have a knack for humor. I like the way you make us read between the lines to find the laugh!

I bet that treatment for colic cured Pokey's noisy bluster.

  9. Love them both, Lisa! What cracked me up is the two different personalities for the same photo: "Thunder" and "Pokey"!

  14. You are so funny! That second one still has me laughing out loud. I was reading Becky's comment, and it looks like you changed back to the old format. I wasn't having a problem with yours, but I was with many others. I finally figured out yesterday to hit "reply" and instead of replying, hit "comment" which showed up when you did that.

I hope that you are having a wonderful week. It is snowing hard here this morning.

    Hugs,

    Kathy M.

  18. I'm not picking favorites, I loved them both. Okay, I guess Pokey asked for it, but I'm still feeling a smidge sorry for him.
