Did anyone else have a crazy week? My time belonged to everyone else this week and I found it a struggle to sit at my laptop for any length of time to accomplish my writing. Fortunately, I was able to complete today's book blurb, though for a while there it looked iffy. Another interruption and I might have hyperventilated. But, no fear! The blurb is done, and this week's photo below is provided by writer and world traveler Kay Davies.
If you are new to this blog, please click HERE or click the tab under the blog header for details of the Book Blurb Friday meme. This is the shortened, abridged version:
Write a book jacket blurb (150 words or less) so enticing that potential readers would feel compelled to buy the book.
Below is this week's "book cover," generously offered for our inspiration by the lovely and talented Kay Davies :
Bonbons Malaxés (Kneaded Sweets)
Annette, Yvette, and MiMi Fornier are sisters renowned for their beauty and baking skills. Their boulangerie, Bonbons Malaxés (Kneaded Sweets), is across from the local Commissariat de Police, and popular with the officers. So are Annette, Yvette and MiMi, who provoke ooh-la-la’s for more than just their raspberry tarts.
When the Commissariat is overtaken by terrorists, Bonbons Malaxés becomes the headquarters for the hostage negotiators. While the sisters keep the pâtisserie and café flowing, they fret over the fate of the policemen being held hostage. Surely there’s something they can do! Mais oui?
Armed with their famous cream puffs, éclairs, and Christian Louboutin stilettos, the girls decide to stage hostage negotiations their own way. But first they must circumvent the officials residing in their bakery and sneak into the Commissariat; then they’ll use all the sweets at their disposal to frost the bad guys. Ooh-la-la! (146 words)
So what do you think? Will the bad guys overdose on sugar before their evil demands can be met? Will the girls save the day? It's my blurb and I say, OUI! (How do you say, "They'll kick ass!" in French?**)
Please put your name and URL in Mr. Linky so others can link back to you and read your blurb, then scroll a little further for a peek at the photo for next week.
Here is next week's photo, provided by my young 'un, Joey.
Have a safe and pleasant weekend!
Adieu!
Lisa
** "They'll kick ass" translates (per Babel Fish) to "ils donneront un coup de pied l'âne." Huh. It kind of loses its punch, doesn't it?

I'm not good with fiction, but I love traveling through the blogosphere reading the blurbs by your participants. I am intrigued by your son's photo. It draws me in.
What a delightful blurb! Great set up and the light tone makes the book sound like a fun read!
Lisa,
I too was busy this week just getting back from out of town for the holidays gave me little time to devote to Book Blurb but I gave it my best shot! I just love your story and yes, kick ass does have the punch that is lost in the French translation! LOL!
Your son's picture is fascinating and I can't wait for next week!

Well, you've done it again! Your blurb is so creative. Anything that combines cream puffs, stilettos and hostages is irresistible. Sounds like a 'donneront un coup de pied l'âne' book!
Great blurb! I'd want to read the book, just to see what those tarts are up to!
I couldn't stop laughing with this one! As usual, you are quite the story teller Lisa, and the names are priceless!
Aha! You too have gone for a trio of mademoiselles and what a delightful tale this promises, Lisa - lots of sugar-covered merde for the baddies.
So it sounds like there are quite a few "tarts" in this story?
Great blurb, as usual!
Undone by the sweets. You are wonderful, Lisa.

I went with a whole different twist here...I read the "Police" on the window across the street and....the imagination took over. LOL
Did someone mention Cream Puffs?!! Where? Your interpretation is fantastic.
I am thinking fun read also. Girls rule.
Love that photo by your son.
Sorry, still can't comment like a normal person.

Clever and sweet, you working that bakery job? Your are SO creative. This one is fun.
Tarts! Sweeties!! Fabulous names - I'd pick this up for those alone. This blurb really made me giggle. Your creativity is marvellous.
Tee-hee! Love that blurb, although for some reason I am now craving a doughnut!

You guys amaze me with all you come up from a photo. Love the story line and the kick-ass attitude, I would add a little ex-lax to those cream puffs. :)

This sounds such fun! Maybe les trois soeurs will sprinkle more than sucre on their patisseries - nothing too deadly, naturellement;-)
Hi Lisa, wow, you sure can pack so much into 150 words, and you know about french things too. Just a remarkable woman, you are! I love your blurb and imagine this book to be a really fun one to read. Of course the ladies will save the day and at least one will fall for a cop, I'm guessing.
I love Joey's picture too. It is kind of spooky.
I hope that you have a wonderful weekend, my friend.

Intrigue and sweets with a comedic element. Sounds like my kind of book. Nicely done, Lisa.
Loved the blurb! Sounds like a very fun read!
Fantastic blurb Lisa, and what a wonderfully entertaining read this would be! I only wish I were really reading the back of a book I had just bought!
BTW a more colloquial way of saying 'they kick ass' would be elles bottent les fesses (literally they put the boot in the buttocks!)
Although I'm supposed to be staying away, I had to read what you wrote - not disappointed that I stopped in to take a look, great as always.
Have just discovered this - totally playing along next week if I can!
Woo hoo - it's like charlie's angels with better shoes! Of course they'll kick ass - you don't mess with a girl in laboutins.
Love this one, Lisa! You make it look so easy, but I know it takes effort to come up with these. I was laughing at your blurb - I could imagine all kinds of hilarious dialogue and scenes! Do you ever get the urge to take a blurb and run with it? Turn it into a short story or novel? You always seem to have such a great start!
Fabulous blurb. I love the 'ooh-la-la’s for more than just their raspberry tarts'. The story sounds fun, and has lots of scope.
I too have had a crazy week - actually a few now. I'm hoping things will become a little more sane soon, then I'll be able to get back to the BBF posts.
